We stopped by Livermore Fire Station 6, to catch up with local firefighter, Craig Freeman and to learn about The Centennial Light- the oldest running light bulb in history…and YES…it’s housed right here in Livermore. 8 quick facts about the Centennial Light: (1) 117 years (as of June 2018) (2) Originally installed at the fire department hose cart house on L Street in 1901. (3) Handblown bulb with carbon filament (4) Began as 60 watts, now burns at 4 watts (5) Now resides at Station 6 Firehouse (6) You can visit the lightbulb if the firefighters are not on an emergency call, just ring the bell at the front of the station. (7) The bulb hangs from the ceiling near the wall on the right side of the station. (8) You can watch it burn and learn more here: CentennialBulb.org
